All mares must be presented before starting covering in order to get entered into the stud-book. All necessary information (e.g. registration number, date of birth, colour and markings, height, pedigree…) will be noted here and a judgement of the mare will be made. The mares will be shown and noted on the triangular course in trot and on the ring in pace.

For the stud-book-inspection the mares are not allowed to wear bandages/tendon boots for better judgement.

The mares are registered as to their qualification (see §69 of the Oldenburg Articles) into one of the following breeding sections:

1) Main-Stud-Book (H)
2) Stud-Book (S)
3) Pre-Stud-Book I (VI)
4) Pre-Stud-Book II (V II)

A mare which will be registered into the Main-Stud-Book (H) automatically gets a name. As a tradition the mares in the Oldenburger stud-book will get a name beginning with the same initial letter as their mother so that the well-known stud-book lines can be followed. We will of course consider your request for a name for your mare.

The stud-book-inspections take place on occasion of the following events:

- Stud-book-inspections
- Mare performance tests (written registration necessary)
- Branding dates (only breeders outside the main breeding area have to register)
- Service days (monthly after advance notification phone +49 (0) 4441-93 55-0)

Dates for the stud-book-inspections are reserved only for the mares, the foals will only be registered at the special announced branding events for foals.

The dates for the stud-book-inspections will be published in the Pferdeforum und announced under Dates.

It is important that you bring the horse passport respectively the pedigree paper with you because here the registration will be noted.

As to the Articles of our Verband we will only act for our members. Therefore, a membership is obligatory for the notification and representation (registration) of a mare respectively registration of a foal.

The following fees for the mare will be due at the event:

- Stud-book-inspection
- Mare allocation, beginning in the year of the covering

The fees are payable on location in cash or by cheque.

The evaluation of the mare will be announced to the owner in written.
