Stallions
The beginning of October every year is the day of reckoning for young stallions: that is when the best from a group of approximately 350 two and a half year olds that have been inspected are selected during the central pre-selection event in Vechta. Approximately 70 candidates receive a ticket for the main licensing on the occasion of the Oldenburg Hengst-Tage which takes place the end of November in the Oldenburg Horse Center in Vechta. The main licensing of Springpferdezucht-verband Oldenburg-International also takes place during the Oldenburg Hengst-Tage.
Only those with a sequence of movements, jumping technique, conformation, exterior, type and total impression that convince the Commission during the inspection on hard ground, in free jumping and running, on the triangle and in the walking ring have a chance of being licensed.
Particularly high quality stallions are ranked in a premium lot from which the young champion stallion is selected.
Some of the licensed as well as not licensed stallions are put up for sale at the following stallion auction.

Old Stallion Parade
On the fourth day of the Oldenburg Hengst-Tage, a most unique event in Germany takes place that delights horse breeders and friends alike: the Oldenburg Althengstparade [Old Stallion Parade] – a presentation of all sires that will be active in the following breeding season.
Bedded into this event that presents sport and breeding highlights and lasts for several hours, the main premium is awarded to the most outstanding four and a half year old Oldenburg stallion based on the results of his performance test, his own development as a breeding and sport stallion and his first foal crop. Two main premiums are awarded – one with emphasis on dressage, the other with emphasis on jumping.
Another highlight of the Oldenburg Althengstparade is when the VTV Dressage Stallion and VTV Jumper Stallion of the Year are named. The criteria for this title are based on the respective performance record of the stallion in sport the past season.
Late Licensing/Stallion Recognition
Throughout the year there are also dates for late licensing and recognition of stallions already licensed in other breeding areas.
Stallion Shows
In the months of January and February, Oldenburg stallion owners organize stallion shows at the Oldenburger Horse Center in Vechta where they show sires licensed for Oldenburg.
