At the beginning of the year the owner of every active registered OS mare will get a so-called “Deckschein” with a duplicate copy. Here the basic data of the mare as well as the address of the owner is included.

Before the covering the “Deckschein” must be handed over to the owner of the stallion.
The covering/insemination of a registered mare without prior handing-over of the “Deckschein” to the owner of the stallion/insemination station is not permitted.
The owners of the mares can choose every stallion of the stallion directory without prior consultation of the Springpferdezuchtverband Oldenburg-International. For other stallions you have to apply for an individual covering licence!

In exceptional cases the presentation of the breeding confirmation (copy) for the identification of the mare is allowed.

The “Deckschein” must include at least the following details:

- Name and registration number of the mare
- Name and registration number of the stallion
- All information regarding the covering
- The registered number of the covering
- If necessary date and result of the gestation inspection
- Name and address of the owner of the mare
- Signature of the owner of the stallion or his representative.

After the covering/insemination the owner of the stallion (respectively his representative) will completely fill out und sign the “Deckschein”.

The owner of the covered mare gets a copy of the “Deckschein” und has to keep this until the mare gets the foal. When selling the mare the buyer must take over this obligation.

The owner of the stallion collects the first page of the “Deckschein” and sends is to the administrative office of the Verband at latest 30.09.of the year.

This “Deckschein” is the basis for the issuing of the “Abfohlmeldung” in the year of birth of the foal.

In case you do not have a “Deckschein” for your mare the stallion owner has at the respective station has to apply for a blank “Deckschein” at the Springpferdezuchtverband Oldenburg-International!!!
