General information on the pre-selection in the Oldenburger Horse Center in Vechta

Dates:
OS - 5 until 7 October 2010 (Registration changes or late registrations only on 7 Oct. afternoon)
OL - 8/9 and 11/12 October 2010 (Registration changes or late registrations only on 12 Oct. afternoon)

Stallions admitted:
Stallions born in 2007 and 2008 from all breeding associations can be presented at the pre-selection. For OL, the stallion’s mother and maternal grandmother have to be registered in the main stud book/stud book I of their respective association. For OS, only the mother has to be registered into the respective stud book I. The young stallions will be included alphabetically in the catalogue according to their father’s names.

Registration:
The stallions may be registered with an informal application or an application form, and a copy of the owner certificate (please do not send any originals!), the exact address of the owner (member no. if available), the telephone no. and the registration fee. For stallions from other associations (not OL and OS) please enclose for the registration for OL a five-generation pedigree, for the registration for OS a four-generation pedigree.
Please specify whether the stallion is to be registered for the OL- or the OS pre-selection or for both.
The registration fee is due at the registration. For Oldenburger stallions and OS stallions the fee amounts to 50 Euro per association, for stallions from other breeding areas 100 Euro per association. Stallions whose registration has been changed or which have been registered late can be presented exclusively on 7.10.2010 in the afternoon (OS) and on 12.10.2010 (OL) in the afternoon.
The fee for both a change of registration (to change the presentation to a day different than the one specified in the catalogue) and a late registration amounts to 200 Euro per stallion. The desired day and time (morning or afternoon) for presentation may be specified on the registration form.
The registration deadline closes on 20 August 2010.

Schedule of the pre-selection:
Initially, the stallions will be presented in the auction hall in free run and free jumping. The licensing commission will decide directly afterwards if the stallion will be admitted to the inspection on hard ground, which will take place at the end of the morning/afternoon programme.
After the inspection on hard ground the stallions will be presented on the pace ring in the auction hall. The result:  “admitted to the licensing” – “not admitted to the licensing” – “reservist for the licensing” – “admitted to the Winter Mixed Sales on 4 December 2010” will be announced then and there.
The reservists will receive notice as to whether they have or have not been admitted directly after the last day of the pre-inspection. The results will also be published online.

Catalogues for the pre-selection:
A catalogue for the pre-selection costs 6 Euro at OL and 5 Euro at OS. The catalogue will only be sent if the payment has been confirmed by our office.

General information on the Oldenburger Stallion Days 18 until 20 November 2010

Vaccinations:
The stallions have to be vaccinated against rhinopneumonitis, influenza and tetanus. The vaccinal immune protection has to be active upon the stallion’s arrival (at least two doses of the basic immunisation must have been administered, the second of which at least 14 days before the beginning of the licensing). This has to follow from the vaccination card of the horse passport, which has to be handed in at the licensing office on arrival.
If the requirements are not met the stallions may not be accepted upton arrival.

 
Veterinary examinations:
All stallions admitted to the licensing have to be examined in one of the following veterinary offices and tested for equine viral arteritis (EVA) until 19.10.2010. The X-ray pictures may be taken digitally beforehand by a veterinary who specializes in horses, however, the pictures have to be handed in prior to the clinical examination in one of the following veterinary clinics. Should some of the delivered pictures not meet the required quality standards, they will be taken again at the clinics mentioned below. Please note that if the X-ray pictures taken by the horse’s veterinary are not presented at the examination, new pictures will definitely be taken!

The following 12 X-ray pictures have to be taken:

Front navicular bone, both sides (without horseshoe, visualizing the fetlock joint and including the sesamoid bones!) – Oxspring method; front toes, both sides, 90°; hind toes, both sides, 90°; both hock joints at 45° each, and 135/315°; both stiffles (knees) 90°.

An official veterinary meeting will take place on 20.10.2010, the required documents for all stallions have to be made available until then.

The authorized veterinary offices have been provided with the required examination protocols, which are to be filled out. The protocols must not be older than three months at the time of the licensing. At the examinations the stallion’s blood sample will be taken and stored in the sample database.

The protocols will be evaluated by one of the veterinaries mentioned above or by Dr. Boening, Telgte. The results will be sent to the stallion’s owner. If a stallion is not/has not been examined as specified above his admission to the licensing will be revoked.

 
Blood samples:
After the announcement of the licensing judgement, blood samples will be taken from all licensed stallions and all stallions which have been registered for the auction but haven’t been licensed. From among these, random samples will be tested for illegal substances. Medication administered previous to the licensing must be indicated.

Date of the photo session:
All stallions admitted to the licensing have to attend the photo sessions which will take place on Thursday, 14.10.2010 (jumping stallions), and Friday, 15.10.2010 (dressage stallions). The photos will be published in the licensing catalogue.
Auction:
All (licensed or unlicensed) stallions up for sale will be marketed at our stallion auction on 20 November.

The ticket shop at the Oldenburg Horse Center Vechta has been open since September 1, 2009 for the advance sale of tickets for the HENGST-TAGE 2009!

It is not permitted to bring dogs on the property or in the indoor halls of the Oldenburg Horse Center Vechta!

The main office in Vechta is not able to take any reservations or orders!
