Breeding goal
The goal is to breed a noble, large framed, correct, high performance riding horse which because of its talents is suitable for utilization in the sport of show jumping.
Selection criteria are:
- Pedigree
- Physical appearance
- Talent for jumping including movement sequence, particularly of the canter
- Inherent characteristics such as ability to perform, character, temperament and soundness
Physical appearance
Desired is an overall harmonious body that contributes to an elegant appearance with generous lines marked by expressiveness and nobility. The horse should be able to permanently perform in show jumping. Conformation should include the correct position and angle of limbs and their size and proportions should fit with body conformation as a whole. Joints, bones and tendons should be clearly defined.
Jumping and sequence of movement
Desired is agile, talented, circumspect and cautious jumping that shows coolness and intelligence. A clear pick-up, quick legs at take-off, pronounced and fast bending of limbs, a well-rounded back with pronounced withers and a downward rounded neck with hind legs that are slightly open (bascule) are desired.
Also desired are diligent, evenly cadenced and ground covering gaits. Movements should be elastic and energetic, developed from the hindquarters and transferred through the supple-swinging back to the forehand which moves freely from the shoulder. The canter is of special importance. It should be elastic, with good impulsion, light-footed and under the center of gravity with a clearly recognizable suspended phase and with natural straightness and balance.
Inherent characteristics
Desired is a horse that is rideable, willing to perform and capable of performing, uncomplicated and easy to handle yet have strong nerves and be dependable with good character traits as well as a calm, well-balanced temperament.
Furthermore desired is robust health, ability to cope physically as well as mentally, natural fertility and freedom from hereditary defects.
