Before the stallions can be registered into the stallion stud-book I and get the breeding licence they have to attend to a stallion performance test.
The different possibilities for a stallion test are:

1. 70-day test
This test will be held at approved testing centres. The stallions will stay for 70 days at this centre. Appraisal factors are the 3 main paces under the saddle, predisposition in the free-jumping and under the saddle, cross country test and rideability. At the end of the test the training supervisor and professionals will evaluate the stallions. The results will be calculated as an index. On the basis of the application the approval commission will decide about the permission to the approval as a result of the stallion performance test.

2. 30-day test
The 30-day test is specially created for 3-year-old stallions and shall give first conclusions       with regard to the predisposition of the young stallions. This test normally starts beginning of March. After having attended to the 30-day test and a weighted end note of at least 7,0 and a jumping orientated note of 8,0 the stallions can start breeding. They get a temporary registration as 3-and 4-year-old into the stallion stud-book I. To ensure that the temporary registration continues when they are 5 years old they must at least once have received a score of 7,5 in an A-level jumping class or must have been qualified for the German National Championships (“Bundeschampionat”) as 4-year-olds. When having qualified for the “Bundeschampionat” as 5- or 6-year-old the stallion will get a final registration.

3. temporary admission
Licensed 3-year-old stallions can be registered temporarily into the stallion stud-book I after a positive licensing judgment. This temporary registration applies only for 3-year-old stallions until the 31st October of the breeding year.

4. tournament privilege
As a result of successes at “Bundeschampionaten”, official World Championships, placings in CSI- or CSIO’s stallions can be registered into the stallion stud-book I even without a previous predisposition test.
